Influenza Sentinel Surveillance Sites Training Workshop 3
The Third Training Workshop of Influenza Sentinel Surveillance Sites (ISSSs) of Mongolia was held at the NCCD, MoH, Ulaanbaatar on 26 Sept. 2013.

The Third Training Workshop of Influenza Sentinel Surveillance Sites (ISSSs) of Mongolia was held at the NCCD, MoH, Ulaanbaatar on 26 Sept. 2013.

180 participants representing ISSSs all over the country including 20 family doctors from UB city, epidemiologists and clinical service managers from the sentinel hospitals were participated in the workshop (see, figure 1).

The presentations delivered were:

 

  • Results of Epidemiological and Virological Surveillance of ILI in Mongolia in 2012/2013 season and preparation for 2013/2014 season by Dr. B.Darmaa, Head Virology Laboratory, NIC, NCCD, 
  • Analysis of local situation based on-line weekly ILI information and organization of local response activities by Dr. Burmaa, Epidemilology Team Leader, NIC, NCCD, 
  • Draft Plan for Influenza Surveillance Sustainability in Mongolia by Dr. Burmaa, Epidemilology Team Leader, NIC, NCCD,
  • Evaluation of activities of ISSSs in 2012/2013 season by Mr. B.Gantsooj, Data-Manager, EWAR Unit, NCCD, 
  • Activities by NIC, Mongolia to improve diagnostic capabilities of relevant professional institutions of Mongolia to detect A/H7N9 with additional funding CDC, USA by B.Darmaa, Head Virology Laboratory, NIC, NCCD 
  • Study plan for Estimation of the Burden of Disease of Influenza and other Respiratory Pathogens among Mongolian Armed Forces by Col.R.Davaadorj, 
  • Clinical Management of ILI by Dr.Sh. Enkhtur, General Director of MCHC.

After the presentations were held the participants were divided into 3 Groups to discuss relevant roles in the activities of sustainable development plan of influenza surveillance in Mongolia:

  • the 1st group - representatives from Family Clinics,
  • the 2d group – representatives from Province and District Health Departments, Reference Centres, General Hospitals in Provinces and Districts, and
  • the 3th group - doctors and nurses from Mongolian Army Forced Units.

At the final plenary the moderators of the Group Discussions have informed the main results of the discussions and the participants were agreed to request the Working Group to finalize the draft Sustainability Plan and submit it to the MoH, Mongolia for approval.
