The regional laboratories have improved diagnostic capacity for emerging and re-emerging diseases
The hand over meeting of laboratory equipment (PCR machines) was held at the Regional Diagnostic Treatment Center, Orkhon province on 19 January 2017. There were participated Head of Provincial Health Department and Governors of Orkhon and Darkhan Uul, Delegates from National Center for Communicable Diseases, Public Health Department of MoH, WHO Representative in Mongolia and Dr. Mina Nakauchi from National Institute of Infectious Diseases(NIID), Tokyo, Japan(Figure1). The WHO Collaborating Center for Reference and Research on Influenza, NIID, Tokyo, Japan has provided two Real time PCR machines,PC computers, reagents and supplies with financial support of Japanese Government(AMED project) to Orkhon and Darkhan provinces. Dr. Mina Nakauchi has installed the PCR machines and conducted skill training on multiplex rt RT LAMP assay using new machines for laboratory local staff above mentioned provinces(Figure 2;3). The Regional Laboratories with molecular detection capacity are will help to provide the results promptly to healthcare workers and public for managing patients and infectious diseases outbreak response activities.
