Virological surveillance information- 2018/2
The Virology Laboratory, National Influenza Center, NCCD, Mongolia has tested 2236 specimens from the 40th week of 2017 to the 4rd week of 2018. 708(31.66%) specimens were positive for influenza and other respiratory viruses of these were 4(0.56%) influenza A(H1N1), 59(8.3%) influenza A(H3N2), 232(32.8%) influenza В-Yamagata lineage, 235(33.2%) RSV, 51(7.2%) Coronavirus OC43/NL63, 54(7.6%) Rhinovirus, 37(5.2%) Parainfluenza, 12(1.7%) Bocavirus, 11(1.55%) Adenovirus, 8(1.13%) Enterovirus and 5(0.71%) Human metapneumovirus (Figure1).

Hemagglutinin gene of the recent influenza A(H1N1)pdm 2009 virus detected in Mongolia

The A(H1N1)pdm viruses were detecting from 1st week of 2018 in Mongolia. We have sequenced HA gene of the recent detected viruses and the phylogenetic analyses shown that the A(H1N1)pdm virus belonging to clade-6B.1 which is similar with vaccine strain A/Michigan/45/2015(H1N1)pdm in the 2017/2018 season (Figure 2).

Number: EPI1143187) which detected in the 1st week of 2018 compared with the vaccine strain for the 2017-18 season and strains representing HA clades (the designation of the Mongolian strains are blue, of the vaccine strain is red and of the strains representing HA genetic clades are black)

Drug resistance test result of influenza viruses isolated in Mongolia

The Virology Laboratory, National Influenza Center has tested neuraminidase susceptibility of the 1 A(H1N1)pdm, 10 A(H3N2), 68 В strains isolated from the 48th week of 2017 to 1st week of 2018. All of the influenza strains were sensitive to oseltamivir and zanamivir by neuraminidase inhibition assay.
