Laboratory surveillance report for Influenza, Influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and COVID-19 As of Epidemiological Weekend 23, 2023
During the first epidemiological week (June 05-11), total of 167 nasopharyngeal swabs were collected at sentinel influenza surveillance sites located in the capital (National Center for Communicable Diseases), western region (Gobi-Altai province), southern region (Dornogobi) and eastern region (Khentii province). These samples were analyzed by RT-PCR assay for the presence of influenza viruses and viruses were detected in 2 samples (1.2% positive rate). As a result of influenza subtyping, 2(100%) sample were positive for Influenza B(Vic) respectively.

From the multiplex RT-PCR analysis of respiratory pathogens. As for the result Adenovirus, RSV, Rhinovirus and MPV were detected in 3 samples (6.8%), 1 sample (2.3%), 10 samples (22.7%) and 1 sample (2.3%) respectively.

For SARS-CoV-2 surveillance, RT-PCR was performed on 200 specimens collected from the general population and travelers abroad. SARS-CoV-2 virus was detected in 26 samples (positive rate was 13%).
