Laboratory surveillance report for Influenza, Influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and COVID-19 As of Epidemiological Weekend 20, 2023
During the first epidemiological week (May 15-21), total of 318 nasopharyngeal swabs were collected at sentinel influenza surveillance sites located in the capital (National Center for Communicable Diseases, Khan-Uul), western region (Bayan-Ulgii, Govi-Altai, Zavkhan, Khovd province), southern region (Dundgobi province, Zamiin-Uud sum) eastern region (Khentii province) and northern region (Khuvsgul, Darkhan-Uul province). These samples were analyzed by RT-PCR assay for the presence of influenza viruses and viruses were detected in 1 sample (0.3% positive rate). As a result of influenza subtyping, 1(100%) sample were positive for Influenza A respectively.

From the multiplex RT-PCR analysis of respiratory pathogens. As for the result Adenovirus, RSV, Rhinovirus and MPV were detected in 3 samples (13%), 5 samples (21.7%), 12 samples (52.2%) and 3 samples (13%) respectively.

For SARS-CoV-2 surveillance, RT-PCR was performed on 405 specimens collected from the general population and travelers abroad. SARS-CoV-2 virus was detected in 111 samples (positive rate was 27.4%).
